Housekeeping Supervisor capemayAugust 15, 20262 min read Supervises Housekeepers, Janitors, and Cleaning Attendants Job Purpose The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily activities of housekeeping staff to ensure company facilities, residential apartments, commercial buildings, and public areas are consistently maintained in a clean, safe, and welcoming condition. The role ensures adherence to housekeeping standards, efficient deployment of staff, and excellent customer service. ______________ Key Responsibilities Daily Operations Supervise day-to-day housekeeping activities. Assign daily work schedules. Ensure all cleaning assignments are completed on time. Inspect completed work and maintain quality standards. Staff Supervision Monitor attendance and punctuality. Train new housekeeping employees. Coach staff on cleaning techniques and customer service. Recommend disciplinary or recognition actions where appropriate. Quality Control Conduct routine inspections of rooms, offices, washrooms, corridors, staircases, elevators, and common areas. Ensure compliance with cleaning standards. Correct deficiencies immediately. Inventory Management Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment. Issue cleaning materials to staff. Maintain inventory records. Report shortages to the Housekeeping Manager. Health and Safety Ensure safe use of cleaning chemicals. Enforce PPE requirements. Report safety hazards immediately. Ensure proper waste segregation and disposal. Customer Service Respond promptly to housekeeping requests. Resolve minor customer complaints. Escalate unresolved issues to the Housekeeping Manager. Reporting Prepare daily housekeeping reports. Report maintenance defects. Maintain attendance and inspection records. ______________ Qualifications Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Housekeeping certification is an added advantage. ______________ Experience Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in housekeeping. At least 2 years in a supervisory position. Experience in hotels, residential properties, commercial buildings, or property management is preferred. ______________ Skills & Competencies Supervisory Skills Leadership Quality Inspection Customer Service Inventory Management Communication Teamwork Time Management Attention to Detail Conflict Resolution Basic Computer Skills Problem Solving ______________ Working Conditions (Applicable to Both Roles) May be required to work weekends, public holidays, and shifts. Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, and inspections across multiple properties. Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
