Job Description
About bookaball bookaball is a multi-tenant, white-label SaaS platform helping padel and other racket sports clubs across Europe streamline their operations and deliver a seamless player experience — all under their own brand. Since launching in 2023, bookaball has grown into a booking platform trusted by 75+ racket sports clubs, serving 500,000+ players across the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and the Czech Republic. Our mission is simple: to empower racket sports clubs to own their growth and build strong, independent businesses — free from reliance on external platforms and marketplaces. Our platform brings together two core components: a player app, where players can book courts and training sessions and manage their memberships, and an admin panel, where club operators manage their day-to-day operations — from player profiles and court occupancy to pricing, memberships, and revenue. The role Our Product team is evolving towards an agentic and spec-driven way of working, where product requirements, decisions, and technical context are captured in a clear source of truth and continuously aligned with what is actually being built. Joining bookaball as a Product Owner means becoming the day-to-day link between our customers, the product, and the engineering team. You help turn real customer needs into clear, well-defined work and make sure the team has the context it needs to build the right things. You will spend significant time speaking with clubs and players, analysing requirements, maintaining the Jira backlog and Confluence specifications, and supporting the team’s delivery process. Together with the CEO and Tech Lead, you help prioritise what we build, prepare upcoming work, run the team’s agile cadence, and keep everyone aligned. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, talking to users, organising complex information, and gradually taking on more product ownership as they grow. What You'll Do Talk to customers regularly (around 30%). Run interviews and feedback sessions with clubs and players and turn what you hear into clear problems, insights, and opportunities. Analyse requirements: dig into customer requests to understand the underlying need, relevant edge cases, and expected impact. Maintain and refine the backlog: write user stories, acceptance criteria, and epics together with the CEO, Tech Lead, and engineering team. Help prioritise work based on customer impact, business priorities, technical dependencies, and team capacity. Write and maintain product specifications in Confluence, including requirements, acceptance criteria, and key product decisions. Keep Jira and Confluence organised and up to date so the team always has a clear source of truth. Make sure implementation decisions and learnings from Engineering are reflected back into product documentation. Prepare and support sprint planning, refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and stand-ups. Track progress during sprints, identify potential blockers or dependencies, and help coordinate solutions with the team. Work closely with the Tech Lead and developers to make sure requirements are understood before development starts. Support release coordination and make sure relevant product changes are communicated internally and to customers where needed. Monitor product usage and customer feedback through tools such as Beamer, Intercom, and our analytics stack. Use data to answer product questions and understand how customers use new and existing functionality. Help track delivery metrics such as cycle time, throughput, sprint progress, and capacity to identify opportunities to improve how the team works. Review completed work against the specification and the intended user experience before it ships. Use AI tools to help synthesise customer interviews, draft and improve specifications, analyse feedback, and make repetitive product work more efficient. Communicate decisions, requirements, and changes clearly between customers, Product, and Engineering. What You Bring Required Completed HBO/WO (Bachelor/Master) or equivalent relevant experience. 1–3 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar role within a software environment. A strong learning mindset: curious about emerging technologies, open to novel ways of working, and quick to adapt to developments in software engineering. Experience working with software development teams and an understanding of how digital products move from idea to release. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: you enjoy taking an unclear request and turning it into something structured and actionable. Experience writing user stories, requirements, acceptance criteria, or other forms of product documentation. Experience working with Jira and Confluence, or comparable product and project management tools. Comfortable speaking directly with customers and asking the right questions to understand what they actually need. A structured way of working and strong attention to detail. Comfortable working with data and product analytics, even if you are not yet an advanced analyst. Actively doing AI-assisted working with AI notetakers, OpenAI, Claude, and other AI-productivity tools. Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues. Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities sometimes change. Fluent written and spoken Dutch and English. Nice to Have Experience within SaaS, booking platforms, marketplaces, scheduling products, or other transactional software. Affinity with racket sports, sport-tech, or the wider sports industry. Basic SQL knowledge or experience querying product data. Familiarity with payment platforms such as Adyen or Stripe. Technical know-how or curiosity to understand concepts such as APIs, integrations, databases, and frontend/backend development. Experience with customer feedback and product analytics tools such as Intercom, Beamer, GA4, and GTM. Familiarity with GitLab or other software development workflows. Experience working in an agile or Scrum environment. Formal Product Owner or agile certification — useful, but not essential. How This Role Fits You'll work closely with the CEO, who has led Product to date, and the Product team, which owns the technical side of delivery. You will take ownership of the day-to-day product process: customer conversations, requirements, specifications, backlog preparation, sprint coordination, and product analysis. The CEO remains closely involved in roadmap, commercial priorities, and major product decisions, while the Product team owns technical architecture and engineering decisions. Your role is to connect those worlds and make sure good ideas turn into clear, buildable, and well-understood work. As you develop in the role, there is plenty of room to take on more responsibility across product discovery, prioritisation, analytics, and product strategy. Why This Role Is Interesting You'll work directly on a real, revenue-generating SaaS platform used every day by clubs and hundreds of thousands of players. The product combines booking, memberships, payments, pricing, scheduling, and club operations — which means there is always something meaningful to improve. You'll also join at a point where we are actively evolving how we build software. We're moving towards a more spec-driven and AI-assisted development model, giving you the opportunity to learn and help shape modern product practices rather than simply inherit an established process. You will get significant exposure to customers, engineering, product decisions, data, and SaaS operations — making this a strong role for someone who wants to develop quickly as a Product Owner. What We Offer A unique insight into the world of padel and the wider racket sports industry. A role with significant responsibility and room to grow. Close collaboration with the CEO and Tech Lead, providing strong exposure to both product and technology. A competitive salary based on experience. An opportunity to work within a fast-growing international SaaS company. A hybrid working environment, with our HQ in Amsterdam. A pension scheme and 25 annual holiday days. A company laptop for your work. A collaborative team committed to supporting your development.
