Business Unit Director Our client is an international consulting group present across several European countries. Structured around four core pillars — Engineering, Solutions, Digital and Advisory — it supports leading industrial and technology players in addressing their transformation challenges, across strategic sectors. With more than two decades of experience, the group is looking to accelerate its development across The Netherlands, and has chosen to build this momentum around a distinctly senior profile. About the role An intrapreneurial role with real ownership As a BU Director, you step into a true intrapreneurial role — running your own business within a dynamic consulting environment. Driving business & building client partnerships You develop and manage your own sales team and client portfolio, combining business development, account management and long-term relationship building. You engage directly with clients to understand their challenges and translate them into concrete consulting solutions. You support and develop your team of business managers to grow the business. Leading and developing consultants You build your own team and play a key role in supporting your consultants throughout their journey — from client introduction to ongoing follow-up, including quarterly reviews and annual evaluations. Your objective: ensure both their development and the success of ongoing projects. Acting at the crossroads of business and talent You work closely with Talent Acquisition, defining needs, contributing to candidate selection and preparing consultants for client interactions. Managing performance and growth You run your activity with a strong business mindset, monitoring KPIs, performance and profitability, and ensuring the continuity and quality of your projects. Your profile You bring solid experience and expertise in business unit management, P&L responsibility and general management. You bring solid commercial acumen and thrive in client-facing environments. You enjoy developing business, building relationships and identifying opportunities. You have 6-10 years of experience in engineering or technical consultancy, where business development and delivery go hand in hand. You work independently, take ownership of your results and easily navigate between clients, candidates and internal stakeholders. You are solution-oriented and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities. You hold at least a bachelor’s degree and are fluent Dutch and English. You feel at home in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, where autonomy, proximity to the business and team interaction are key. You enjoy being present, collaborating and operating close to the action. You live or are ready to operate in the South of Netherlands.
Core Responsibilities
The Business Unit Director is responsible for running a business unit as an intrapreneur, managing a sales team and client portfolio to drive growth. They oversee the full lifecycle of consultants, from recruitment and selection to performance evaluation and project success.
Requirements
Candidates need 6-10 years of experience in engineering or technical consultancy with a strong background in P&L and business development. A bachelor's degree and fluency in both Dutch and English are required.
