Job Description

How You'll Help Us Keep Climbing (Overview & Key Responsibilities) This position manages payroll and HR operations across multiple countries within an assigned region. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant execution of payroll and HR services, while improving process consistency, controls, continuity, and employee experience through partnership with internal stakeholders and external providers. This position plays an important role in supporting Delta’s international payroll and HR operations by executing core payroll and HR processes, resolving operational issues, maintaining documentation and controls, and coordinating with HR, Payroll, Finance, Operations, and external providers. The role helps translate business, compliance, and service requirements into reliable day-to-day execution across international employee support processes. Primary Functions Execute end-to-end payroll for assigned countries in line with payroll calendars, internal controls, and local statutory requirements Manage payroll inputs, review outputs, perform validations, and resolve discrepancies with internal stakeholders and external providers Process payroll transactions, including employee data changes, time inputs, variable pay, deductions, retroactivity, terminations, corrections, and off-cycle payments Handle payroll-related reconciliations, general ledger activity, banking activities, and exception handling in partnership with Finance and other stakeholders Complete year-end payroll activities, statutory reporting, and country-specific validations as required Maintain employee master data and process personnel transactions with accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance Support employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, offboarding, job changes, organizational updates, benefits administration, and time and attendance administration where applicable Resolve employee and stakeholder inquiries related to payroll, HR processes, benefits, and time systems, ensuring timely follow-up, documentation, and escalation where needed Maintain SOPs, payroll calendars, checklists, trackers, logs, and audit-ready documentation to support consistent service delivery and business continuity Monitor changes in local labor, payroll, tax, and statutory requirements and translate those changes into operational updates Strengthen controls through validations, reconciliations, documentation, and evidence retention across the payroll cycle Serve as a primary regional contact for payroll vendors and other third-party providers, tracking deliverables, reviewing outputs, and resolving service issues Partner with HR, Finance, Operations, and other stakeholders to resolve issues, improve workflows, support transitions, and stabilize processes Own post-payroll reporting, variance analysis, reconciliations, and secure distribution of required outputs Identify trends and support improvements that increase accuracy, reduce rework, simplify workflows, and improve service quality What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, human resources, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience Minimum of 4 years of experience in payroll, HR operations, shared services, or related global operations Must have valid authorization to live and work in the EU (including Netherlands) at the time of application. Delta does not provide visa sponsorship for this role Experience managing payroll and HR operations across multiple countries and varying statutory requirements Strong knowledge of payroll operations, HR processes, controls, reconciliations, and compliance requirements Hands-on experience with payroll, time, and HR systems, including year-end and statutory activities Experience working with external payroll or HR service providers Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other tools used to support payroll and HR operations Demonstrated ability to work across functions, manage operational priorities, and support process improvement in a complex environment Strong attention to detail, judgment, organization, and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Airline industry experience preferred Business-level proficiency in local language is a plus Demonstrates that privacy is a priority when handling personal data Embraces a diverse set of people, thinking, and styles Consistently makes safety and security, of self and others, the priority What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, human resources, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience

Requirements

Candidates must have at least 4 years of experience in payroll or HR operations and possess valid authorization to work in the EU. A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or HR is preferred, along with strong proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
