Job Description

Company Description The Cyclists’ Alliance is an independent organisation run by former and current professional female cyclists, working to advance their interests and ensure their voices are heard. We connect riders’ experiences with the people and organisations making decisions about their sport and advocate for change that matters to them. By driving systemic change and offering practical resources, The Cyclists’ Alliance aims to build a more equitable and inclusive future for all cyclists in the peloton. Role Description The Advocacy & Communications Lead is a remote, contract role responsible for shaping and delivering TCA's advocacy and communications strategy. As our Advocacy & Communications Lead, you’ll be the public face and voice of TCA, turning Board strategy into communications and advocacy that serves riders. This is a hands-on role with a high degree of autonomy as you’ll set priorities, deliver the work and build trusted relationships across the sport. You’ll report to the TCA Board, with the President as your primary contact. Legal advice, financial management and TCAMP (our mentorship programme) delivery sit outside this role. Qualifications Strong advocacy, policy, or campaign experience, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear, actionable messages as you will need to build and drive a proactive advocacy agenda: identify the issues that matter to riders, make the case for change and mobilise the sport around them. Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods as you will need to listen to riders, strengthen engagement and coordinate the Rider Council so TCA’s advocacy priorities remain grounded in their experiences. Lead and evolve TCA’s annual Rider Survey, using the findings as an input to set evidence-led advocacy priorities. Proficiency in communications strategy, including content planning as you will lead TCA’s digital and social channels, content and media relationships, galvanising journalists, fans and the wider cycling community behind the case for change. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with digital communication tools and channels (e.g., email platforms, social media management, website content updates and content creation tools). Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with limited supervision. Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and fair working conditions in sport or related sectors. Background or strong interest in professional cycling, athlete representation, or sports governance is highly beneficial. Nice-to-haves Existing relationships with cycling media, the UCI, teams or other relevant organisations. Lived experience in professional cycling. Experience representing athletes or helping their perspectives influence decisions. Contract Details Time: Part-time, 2–3 days per week. Location: Remote; Europe-based preferred. Travel: Occasional travel required.
