Business Architect CRO COO Retail Area

Help the CRO Chief Operating Office (CRO COO) department work more efficiently by improving architecture, solving business challenges and strengthening the architecture community.

You & your role

As Business Architect, you know the secrets of translating business challenges into clear and practical architecture solutions. You look beyond the existing backlog and help the department improve how work is organised and delivered.

The department has successfully completed a major Return to Compliance programme. The focus is now shifting towards building for the future and increasing efficiency. Within the CRO COO department, the area Retail is responsible for the development and implementation of Credit Risk models for all Retail portfolio’s (Mortgages / Retail SME / Consumer Finance).

Examples from practice

  • Design the target architecture of the Retail area together with the triangle and solution architects.
  • Improve Credit Risk Modelling by guiding the Area to use standardized platforms and data models
  • Identify successful architectural patterns in the Retail area and transform them into CRO COO architectural standards.

  • Together with the Area Lead and Tech Lead you are managing and running the CRO COO Area Retail. For this area you have the role of area architect
  • Translate business challenges for all into clear architecture solutions that support sustainable and efficient ways of working.
  • Improve the architecture function by mentoring solution architects, reviewing current practices and proposing practical changes to realize simplification within the department.

Beyond solving business challenges, you will help the architecture team improve its own methods and collaboration. You will have the opportunity to influence how the architecture function develops within the department.

You & your talent

  • Master’s-level professional and intellectual ability
  • Strong experience in the financial services sector, translating complex business and regulatory challenges into practical architecture solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Credit Risk, including the processes, data and risk considerations that shape architecture decisions.
  • Proven coaching experience, helping architects and other professionals develop their expertise, ownership and ability to make well-founded decisions.
  • A demonstrable contribution to the architecture profession, for example by leading communities, organising knowledge sessions or improving architecture standards and ways of working.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, demonstrated by identifying inefficiencies, aligning stakeholders and implementing changes beyond your own backlog.
