Job Description

The Inside Sales Executive plays a key commercial support role within the Sales Team and is responsible for ensuring a seamless commercial process from initial customer enquiry through quotation, follow-up and handover to Operations. The role includes managing customer enquiries, preparing quotations and maintaining accurate sales administration.
Acting as the first point of contact for customers, the Inside Sales Executive ensures that requests are handled quickly, professionally and accurately, contributing directly to customer satisfaction and business growth.
The role works closely with the General Sales Manager team, Sales Executives and Business Developers by providing commercial and administrative support, maintaining sales systems, and ensuring customer and opportunity data remains up to date. A proactive, customer-focused and commercially driven mindset is essential to convert opportunities into business. 1. Customer Enquiries & Sales Support
  • Act as the primary contact for incoming customer enquiries regarding rates, services and transport solutions and assess customer requests to ensure these are handled efficiently or directed to the appropriate Sales Executive where required.
  • Provide timely and professional responses via phone and email.
  • Support the General Sales Manager and Sales Executives with daily commercial activities and customer communication.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through responsive and service-oriented communication. 
     
2. Quotation Management
  • Prepare, issue and manage quotations in line with customer requirements and company guidelines.
  • Own the quotation process from initial customer enquiry through to commercial follow-up and handover to Operations.
  • Proactively follow up outstanding quotations to maximize conversion into confirmed business.
  • Monitor quotation pipelines and ensure all opportunities receive appropriate follow-up.
  • Coordinate internally with Pricing, Customer Service and Operations to ensure accurate and competitive quotations.
 
3. Sales Administration & CRM Management

  • Maintain customer records, opportunities and commercial activities within Samskip’s CRM and sales systems.
  • Ensure Sales Executives have complete, accurate and up-to-date customer information available.
  • Process and archive commercial documentation including agreements, quotations, credit notes and customer correspondence.
  • Support reporting activities by maintaining accurate sales administration and customer data.
 
4. Commercial Development
  • Identify commercial opportunities through customer interactions.
  • Support the acquisition of new business and the development of existing accounts, contributing to the achievement of the team's commercial targets.
  • Promote Samskip's products and services through upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Assist Sales Executives in preparing customer visits, commercial proposals and account reviews.
 
5. Teamwork & Continuous Improvement
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across Sales, Customer Service and Operations.
  • Provide backup support to colleagues where required.
  • Contribute to process improvements and the implementation of new commercial systems and ways of working.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a solution-oriented attitude in a dynamic commercial environment.
