About the role For a large, digitally mature organisation, we are looking for a highly experienced Interim Technology Lead E-commerce & Digital Commerce who can step directly into a business-critical digital domain for a period of approximately three to six months. You will temporarily take responsibility for technology within e-commerce, online customer interaction and commerce, with an initial focus on ensuring continuity: teams must be able to continue delivering effectively and important initiatives must not lose momentum. At the same time, this assignment goes beyond simply keeping the shop running. The organisation is preparing for the next step in the collaboration between Technology, Product and Data. Drawing on your experience, you will act as a strong sparring partner to senior management on topics such as organisational structure, technical direction, team setup and the further development of the digital landscape. You will operate at senior leadership level while remaining close enough to the technology and teams to quickly understand what is actually happening. We are therefore looking for someone with a foundation in software and product development who has since gained extensive experience leading digital technology organisations at scale. About the organisation You will join a large Dutch organisation with an extensive digital and physical customer landscape. Technology is an essential part of its services and is largely developed by its own product and engineering teams. The technical environment includes web, mobile applications, frontend and backend platforms, and cloud technology. Within the organisation, Technology, Product and Data are working increasingly closely together. The environment is complex, with scale, reliability and an excellent digital customer experience as key priorities. Deliverables Ensure continuity and leadership within the e-commerce and digital technology domain. Quickly establish an overview of teams, technology, priorities, dependencies and ongoing initiatives. Support engineering and product teams in decision-making and resolving complex issues. Act as a sparring partner to senior technology leadership on the future setup of Technology, Product and Data. Contribute to preparatory decisions regarding organisational structure, responsibilities and collaboration between teams. Be able to understand and challenge technical issues related to web, apps, frontend, backend and cloud at a senior level. Actively participate in the Technology Management Team and provide direction on joint decisions from the e-commerce and customer domain perspective. Ensure an effective handover and sustainable embedding within the permanent organisation. Requirements Extensive experience in a senior technology leadership role, for example as Technology Director, VP Engineering, Head of Technology or CTO. Experience within a modern, product-driven technology organisation with multiple software and product teams operating at scale. A strong background in software development; you understand frontend, backend, web, mobile applications, platforms and modern cloud environments. Experience with large-scale e-commerce, marketplace or other high-traffic digital environments is strongly preferred. You are accustomed to approaching Technology, Product and Data from an integrated perspective. You combine strategic thinking with a hands-on mentality: you can advise at executive level while also operating close to the teams. You can quickly step into an existing environment, bring calm and direction, and require little onboarding to make an impact. Experience with international and/or large-scale technology organisations is a strong advantage. Speaking Dutch is not a strict requirement; professional English is essential. An affinity with AI and a good understanding of the impact of AI on software engineering, product development and digital organisations is an advantage. Assignment duration: 3 to 6 months.

Requirements

Requires extensive senior leadership experience (CTO, VP Engineering) within large-scale, product-driven digital organizations. Must have a strong technical foundation in software development, cloud environments, and high-traffic e-commerce platforms.
