Analytics and AI have the potential to fundamentally improve those decisions, helping organisations achieve greater impact with the resources they already have. Founded by the University of Amsterdam and ORTEC, Analytics for a Better World (ABW) is an independent applied research institute created to unlock this potential for social good. We develop new knowledge, translate research into practical solutions and strengthen the analytics and AI capabilities organisations need to integrate this new way of working. Working with a growing ecosystem of 20+ mission-driven organisations, 12 industry partners and 14 academic institutions, we develop AI and analytics solutions that amplify the impact of organisations working across health, climate and humanitarian action. We are looking for an experienced Head of AI & Analytics (24–40 hours per week) to lead technical strategy and solution development, together with our partners, and help shape the next generation of AI for social impact. About the Role As Head of AI & Analytics, you will be ABW’s technical leader and play a role similar to a CTO within a mission-driven organisation. You will be responsible for ABW’s technology strategy, technical quality and analytics roadmap. You will work directly with NGOs, governments, foundations and international organisations to identify opportunities where AI and analytics can create meaningful impact. You will also manage relationships with ABW’s network of technology partners, including analytics companies, AI providers, universities and specialist experts. Key Responsibilities Define and lead ABW’s AI, analytics and technology strategy. Develop and maintain ABW’s technology roadmap and product portfolio. Ensure the quality and integrity of all analytics and AI projects. Act as the senior technical counterpart for NGO, government and multilateral partners. Lead ABW's open-source software portfolio, setting standards for quality, documentation and reuse. Manage and coordinate relationships with external technology and analytics partners. Identify opportunities to develop reusable tools, platforms and products. Support fundraising and proposal development from a technical perspective. Build ABW’s reputation as a leader in applied AI and analytics for social impact. Your profile 10+ years of experience in analytics, AI, data science or technology leadership. Strong understanding of AI, machine learning, optimisation and decision science. Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams and external partners. Experience in software architecture, coding and delivery of software solutions to clients. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions. Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to build a new organisation. Passion for using technology to create positive societal impact. Why join us? Core Responsibilities

Requirements
Requires over 10 years of experience in AI, data science, or technology leadership with a strong background in software architecture and delivery. Candidates must possess an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for creating positive societal impact.
