About the Role Product Engineer – Customer Quality & Product Development Within our Product Engineering team, we support business growth by defining product specifications that balance customer requirements with quality, manufacturability, timing, capacity, and cost targets. In this hybrid role, combining product engineering with a customer quality interface, you will help ensure customer satisfaction while strengthening our internal capabilities and technical knowledge. Responsibilities Design and Development Creating product models and drawings using CAD software based on customer demand and production capabilities. Owning and updating the product-specific design rules, derived from customer requirements and production capabilities. Improving product quality together with the Quality Engineer and Operations team by addressing production issues and optimizing product designs. Participating in New Product Introduction feasibility analysis and supporting discussions with the capability analysis. Customer Quality Management Evaluating customer quality claims for the products within your area of responsibility. Working on the 8D problem-solving activities together with the Quality Engineer and the production team. Analyzing measurement data to suggest improvements in the product design and align with customer expectations. Aligning with the Application Manager and Product Manager regarding the customer specifications and related changes. Qualifications Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent qualification within the Dutch education system Experience Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a similar role, such as product development, quality management, product management, or a related engineering function. Knowledge and Skill Requirement We are looking for a professional who wants to further develop and grow in our organization, using their knowledge and experience. To achieve that, some knowledge and skills expected are: Must-haves Product engineering or manufacturing engineering background Experience using CAD software for design and drafting Business-fluent English GD&T knowledge (Based on ISO standards) Statistical analysis techniques Knowledge of quality management systems, preferably including IATF 16949, 8D problem solving, and continuous improvement methods Experience creating technical and problem-solving reports Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem solving Fluency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams) Preferred Skills PTC CREO experience Minitab experience Experience working with Product Lifecycle Management software SAP knowledge Knowledge of machining processes (milling, turning, grinding etc.) And, last but not least, to live up to the core competencies of Schunk Xycarb Technology: Innovation, Collaboration, and Customer Focus. Core Responsibilities
The role involves designing product models using CAD software and defining specifications that balance customer requirements with manufacturing capabilities. Additionally, the engineer will manage customer quality claims and lead 8D problem-solving activities to optimize product design and quality.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and possess at least 5 years of professional experience in a related engineering function. Proficiency in CAD software, GD&T, and quality management systems like IATF 16949 is required.
