# DevOps Engineer — Event Streaming & API Platform ## About the Company Ministerie van Defensie (Ministry of Defence) is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to help build and maintain a generic event-streaming platform supporting asynchronous APIs, API services, and integration services used across the Defence organization. ## About the Role As a DevOps Engineer specializing in event streaming, you will work on the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a generic platform for event streaming and asynchronous APIs. You will contribute to robust and functional API and integration services within an Agile environment, working with technologies including Kafka or Pulsar, Kubernetes, and CI/CD. ## Key Responsibilities * Set up and maintain a generic event-streaming platform for asynchronous APIs. * Develop, manage, and improve API and integration services used across the Defence organization. * Build and maintain robust and functional applications and platform services. * Work with event-streaming technologies such as Kafka and Pulsar. * Manage containerized workloads and platform services using Kubernetes. * Implement and maintain CI/CD processes to support reliable and efficient software delivery. * Contribute to platform performance, quality, and continuous improvement. * Collaborate within an Agile development environment. * Help ensure the event-streaming and API platform remains reliable, scalable, and fit for organizational use. ## Required Qualifications * Professional experience as a DevOps Engineer, particularly with event-streaming platforms. * Experience working with asynchronous APIs, API services, and integration services. * Experience with Kafka and/or Pulsar. * Experience with Kubernetes. * Experience with CI/CD environments and practices. * Ability to work in an Agile environment. * Strong focus on speed, quality, reliability, and continuous improvement. ## Core Skills DevOps, Event Streaming, Event-Driven Architecture, Kafka, Apache Kafka, Pulsar, Apache Pulsar, Async APIs, Asynchronous APIs, API Integration, API Services, Integration Services, Kubernetes, Containerization, CI/CD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Platform Engineering, Cloud-Native Applications, Agile, Software Delivery, Infrastructure Automation, Application Reliability, Continuous Improvement. ## Work Location Utrecht, Netherlands — Hybrid. Requirements

Professional experience as a DevOps Engineer with specific expertise in event-streaming platforms like Kafka or Pulsar. Proficiency in Kubernetes, CI/CD practices, and working within an Agile framework is required.
