Job Description

Department / Organization

The Commissioning Engineer is part of the Project Execution / Commissioning department and is involved worldwide in the commissioning of Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) and associated systems. The company provides power generation solutions and works closely with EPC contractors, turbine suppliers, and end clients.

Purpose of the Role

To prepare, coordinate, and execute commissioning activities for HRSG installations and auxiliary systems, ensuring a safe, efficient, and successful handover of the plant to the client in accordance with contractual and technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist in planning, preparing, and executing commissioning activities at project sites worldwide.

· Follow up on commissioning and test plans (ITPs, pre-commissioning checklists, SAT procedures).

· Coordinate activities across disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, DCS/PLC).

· Perform testing, measurements, and adjustments on HRSG systems, including:

o Steam/water circuits

o Burner and air supply systems

o Blowdown, feedwater, and condensate systems

o Instrumentation and control systems

· Identify and report deviations and technical issues; propose corrective solutions.

· Ensure safety, quality, and compliance with environmental regulations during commissioning.

· Lead and instruct local teams, subcontractors, and operators during testing phases.

· Prepare test reports, punch lists, and final commissioning documentation.

· Support customer training and handover procedures.

· Report to the Commissioning Manager / Project Manager.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, or Process Engineering.

· Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in commissioning of power plants, HRSGs, steam systems, or industrial installations.

· Solid knowledge of thermodynamics, process automation (DCS/PLC), instrumentation, and steam/water systems.

· Experience with international projects and intercultural collaboration.

Skills and Competencies

· Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.

· Excellent communication skills (fluent in English; additional languages are a plus).

· Resilient and capable of working independently in demanding environments.

· Team player with leadership qualities and a strong safety mindset.

· Willingness to travel internationally frequently and for extended periods (up to 90% of the time).

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering and possess 3–5 years of experience in power plant commissioning. Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, process automation, and instrumentation is required, along with the ability to travel internationally up to 90% of the time.
