What's Exciting About The role

Verifone is seeking an experienced Compliance Leader from the Payments or Financial Services industry to head our Global Compliance expert team from the Netherlands. This senior role carries direct accountability for Verifone’s Dutch and UK regulated entities, alongside second‑line oversight across the wider regulated footprint, including Germany, the Nordics, and the United States.

As a global payments technology leader, Verifone is strengthening its regulatory, governance, and compliance capabilities. We are looking for a leader who combines deep compliance expertise, strategic governance experience, and a decisive, action‑driven approach to shaping the future of Verifone’s payments and financial services strategy.

This role will spearhead the Group Compliance Uplift Programme, driving the build‑out of a modern, scalable compliance function across all regulated entities. You will work closely with senior stakeholders and guide the evolution of Verifone’s compliance framework across multiple jurisdictions.

The position reports directly to the VP Regulatory Compliance & Risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure regulatory compliance for all regulated entities, including oversight of the outsourced and co-sourced compliance and risk activities and of the external remediation partner
  • Be the appointed MLRO for the DNB and the FCA and the point of contact for other regulatory agencies
  • Provide advice to the company on relevant regulatory items
  • Build and lead the compliance function, including the regional compliance hires and the day-to-day direction and quality control of the outsourced delivery partner
  • Provide second-line compliance oversight to the other Verifone regulated entities and drive a consistent group-wide compliance standard

Support the Group compliance uplift program with a primary focus on:

  • Maintaining the systematic integrity risk analysis (SIRA) and other risk registers applicable to the business
  • Anti-money laundering and combating of terrorism financing programs (AML/CTF) – MLRO for the Dutch entity and Nominated Officer / MLRO for the UK entity
  • Group Compliance programs like Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption, Code of Conduct, ESG, Whistleblowing, Gifts & hospitality and Conflicts of interest etc
  • Compliance monitoring & testing plan – design, execution and reporting across the regulated entities
  • Internal investigations, whistleblowing case management and dawn-raid readiness
  • Third-party due diligence and ongoing monitoring, including M&A diligence support
  • Safeguarding second-line oversight
  • Customer-due diligence / KYC 2nd line oversight
  • AML transaction monitoring and reporting
  • Ongoing maintenance of the policy house 

Skills and Experience We Desire

  • 8–10 years of experience in financial compliance, including a team lead role within a regulated payments or financial services firm
  • Experience with regulated (payment) services & acquiring
  • Working knowledge of both the Dutch (DNB) and UK (FCA) regulatory regimes, and experience of holding a regulator-facing accountable role such as MLRO or Nominated Officer
  • Experience building and leading a distributed, multi-jurisdiction compliance team
  • Governance & strategic expertise
  • Demonstrated expertise and familiarity with the EU and UK regulatory framework on Combating of Money Laundering, Combating of Terrorism Financing and Sanctions Act, ABAC, Whistleblowing, Dawn raids, Data Privacy, Scheme Compliance etc.
  • Proven knowledge of and experience with laws and regulations in the financial sector
  • Highly analytical with attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality of work
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, depending on the situation
  • Ability to effectively train and present information to regulators and/or Verifone Group Senior Leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree in law or compliance; a relevant professional certification (e.g. CAMS, ICA) is an advantage

Requirements

Candidates must have 8–10 years of experience in financial compliance within regulated payment or financial services firms. A bachelor’s degree in law or compliance is required, along with deep knowledge of DNB and FCA regulatory regimes.
