Als Senior Network (Automation) Engineer ben jij eigenaar van het netwerk — van idee tot realiteit, en alles wat daarna komt. Je werkt door alle lagen heen, van fabric tot cloud overlay, en automation is je default.
Wat ga je doen?
Je werkt aan complexe, missie-kritische netwerkinfrastructuren voor klanten waar downtime écht iets kost. Je bent betrokken vanaf het begin en blijft betrokken zolang het systeem draait. Concreet betekent dit dat je:
- Highly available, secure en scalable netwerken architecteert, ontwerpt, bouwt én onderhoudt, zowel on-premises als in de public cloud (Azure)
- Door de volle stack werkt: van routing en switching (BGP, OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN) tot firewalling, load balancing, SDN en VMware NSX
- Netwerkconfiguraties automatiseert en templatet volgens Infrastructure-as-Code-principes, met Terraform, Ansible en Chef
- IPAM (bij voorkeur Nautobot of NetBox) en IAM integreert en beheert als source of truth voor je automation
- Werkt aan Kubernetes-netwerkvraagstukken, CI/CD-automatisering en GitLab/GitOps-workflows
- Zelf performance- en security issues onderzoekt en oplost in complexe netwerklandschappen
- Bijdraagt aan change planning, security-incidenten, audits en continue verbetering
- Greenfield projecten draait, met verantwoordelijkheid van architectuur tot hands-on build en doorontwikkeling
Geen losse taken, geen overdrachten — jij bouwt wat je ontwerpt en neemt verantwoordelijkheid voor hoe het draait.
Wat heb je nodig om succesvol te zijn?
Deze rol past bij jou als je een ervaren, hands-on Network Engineer bent die verantwoordelijkheid neemt en graag zelf bouwt.
Je brengt mee:
- Een bewezen senior track record als Network Engineer in high-availability omgevingen
- Hands-on ervaring met Cisco, Arista en/of Extreme Networks
- Diepe kennis van F5, Cisco ASA en Palo Alto
- Ervaring met automatisering en Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible, Chef (Python of Go is zeker een plus)
- Ervaring met public cloud networking (Azure) en de integratie met on-premises netwerken
- Sterke troubleshooting skills — je lost complexe netwerk- en securityproblemen zelfstandig op
- Nederlands en Engels op professioneel niveau: je schakelt met Nederlandstalige stakeholders, onze technische documentatie is Engelstalig
- Je woont in Nederland. De standplaats is Rotterdam en je bent minimaal 3 dagen per week op kantoor. We bieden geen relocatie of visumsponsoring en nemen geen sollicitaties vanuit het buitenland in behandeling
Belangrijker dan elk vinkje is dat je het logisch vindt om te zeggen: "Als ik dit ontwerp, dan wil ik het ook zelf bouwen, automatiseren en beheren."

Core Responsibilities
You will design, build, automate, and maintain mission-critical network infrastructures from the fabric layer to the cloud overlay. You are responsible for the entire lifecycle of the network, including troubleshooting performance and security issues.
Requirements
The role requires a senior track record in high-availability network environments with hands-on experience in Cisco, Arista, or Extreme Networks. Proficiency in automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Chef, along with professional fluency in both Dutch and English, is essential.
