Responsibilities

Program Description:

The program provides Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) core and non-core support in the areas of Cyber Security and Management to improve the Information Assurance (IA) posture of a National customer. The contracts Core Capabilities are:  IA Management, Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) coordination and reporting, Risk Management Framework (RMF) application, IA compliance measurements and metrics, Assessment and Authorization (A&A), Vulnerability Management, and Cyber Defense support.

 

Position Description:

The Information Systems Security Engineer provides support to the customer in the area of Cyber Security. Daily Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with office stakeholders to ensure their assets are compliant with the Risk Management Framework.
  • Assist in the development of technical requirements.
  • Produces high-quality papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for senior US government officials.
  • Collaborate with government customer to provide status of cognizant assets, make recommendations when warranted and provide feedback to stakeholders.
  • Provide analytical and technical security recommendations to the customer
  • Identify projects’ security requirements.
  • Participate in network design reviews and security testing for the customer’s networks.
  • Coordinate with system development teams to ensure network security standards are being followed and implemented correctly.
  • Identify additional security requirements, based on RMF or as the result of security issues that put the customer’s systems at risk.
  • Review and analyze new systems (hardware and software) and provide recommendations concerning their security.
  • Provide A&A and RMF guidance to system owners to ensure accreditation success.
  • Provide insight and recommendations leading up to and during the customer's information assurance readiness review process.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS with 10-12 years of experience, MS with 8-10 years of experience, PhD with 5-7 years of experience
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI with Poly
  • Able to support customer’s core hours (0900-1500; Mon – Fri)
  • A Cyber Certification (DoD 8570/8140)
  • Demonstrated experience with Zero Trust, STIG compliance auditing and network engineering
  • Demonstrated experience with security assessment tools, network security and RMF
  • Experience with ACAS (Assured Compliance assessment Solution) and with eMASS (Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Services
  • Experience in preparing for and supporting IA audit requirements
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, communications skills (verbal and non-verbal) and ability to work with a team (internal and external stakeholders)
  • Familiarity with POA&M management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the NIST RMF
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in cybersecurity principles

 Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud security requirements and continuous monitoring
  • Systems Engineering (configuration management, requirements management/writing, architecture, interfaces)
  • Knowledgeability of customer’s infrastructure
  • Familiarity with customer’s IA processes
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Self-starter requiring limited direction and supervision
  • Experience briefing senior customer personnel
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous customer requests in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Cross Domain Solutions (ECDS)
  • Experience supporting IC or DoD in the Cyber Security Domain

Equal Pay Act

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. Core Responsibilities

The Information Systems Security Engineer provides cybersecurity support, including ensuring asset compliance with the Risk Management Framework and assisting in the development of technical requirements. They also produce high-quality security recommendations for government officials and coordinate with system development teams to ensure network security standards are implemented.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a TS/SCI with Polygraph and a DoD 8570/8140 cyber certification. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with 10-12 years of experience is required, along with demonstrated expertise in RMF, network security, and security assessment tools.
