Due to the rapid growth of both the platform and the company, the team is looking to expand with a Senior DevSecOps Engineer.
Our client is an agile, fast growing, and innovative SaaS organization based in Amsterdam 15 - 20 employees. Their software solutions support countless users daily, where scalability, performance, and security are absolute top priorities.
The current DevSecOps team consists of 3 highly experienced Senior IT Specialists/Architects, each bringing 20+ years of experience to the table. It is a close knit, professional group operating at a high technical level. 
As the team continues to scale, this role offers concrete opportunities to transition into a DevSecOps Team Lead position in the future.

The Challenge: Why Are We Looking for You?
Due to resource constraints, the development team currently handles too many 'Ops' tasks, which slows down the pace of feature development. Additionally, the team wants to ensure the continuity and stability of the platform (e.g., during holidays or peak periods).
As a Senior DevSecOps Engineer, you will provide much needed reinforcement on the Operations side. While DevSecOps covers the entire lifecycle, the main focus of this role lies heavily on Operations (Ops): maintaining, stabilizing, automating, and securing our cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Operations & Continuity: Act as the driving force behind maintaining and operating our production environments and cloud infrastructure (Azure, Kubernetes).
  
• Vulnerability Management: Analyze vulnerabilities flagged by security scans and resolve them independently within the operations domain (unless a fix requires a major architectural/code change, in which case it becomes a dedicated project).
  
• Automation, CI/CD & GitOps: Build, maintain, and optimize automated deployment pipelines using Git, CI/CD, and Flux.
  
• Security Integration (Shift-Left): Integrate automated security gates and tools (such as Snyk, Trivy, SonarQube, and OWASP ZAP) into the pipelines to catch vulnerabilities as early as possible.
  
• Future Leadership: Contribute to the team's technical vision, architecture, and processes. Given proven capability and team expansion, you will have the opportunity to step up into a Team Lead role over time.

• Confident & Resilient: You stand firm in your shoes, aren't afraid to make decisions, and can effectively communicate and spar with senior developers and architects.
  
• Strong Communicator: You can clearly explain technical choices and security risks to colleagues and stakeholders.
  
• High Degree of Autonomy: You proactively identify tasks, take ownership of operations, and make independent decisions smoothly.
  
• Cloud & Containerization Experience: Proven experience with Azure and managing/orchestrating Kubernetes environments.
  
• GitOps, Pipelines & Tooling: Strong practical experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Flux (understanding operational flows and keeping processes streamlined is essential).
  
• Code Affinity: You don't need to be a full-time software developer, but you must have sufficient "code feeling." Our backend applications run mainly on Java, with Node.js used for surrounding tooling and scripting. You need to be able to read, understand, and know how code lands in the pipeline.
  
• Security Awareness: You understand the fundamentals of information security and frameworks (such as OWASP). You know how to make smart choices within these frameworks without introducing vulnerabilities.
  
• You have an EU passport or a permanent residence permit (permanente verblijfsvergunning for the Netherlands)
  
• No Visa Sponsorship or relocation, candidates requiring visa sponsorship or relocation will not be considered.
  

What We Offer

• Salary: Up to €115,000 gross per year (including 8% holiday allowance).
  
• Ultra-Flexible Hybrid Working: Minimum 1 and maximum 2 days per week in the Amsterdam office, with the remainder working from home. Living further away in the Netherlands (e.g., Groningen or Maastricht) and able to travel to Amsterdam once a week? This position fits perfectly with your location!
