Job Description

Are you a data‑driven professional looking to make a direct impact in a fast‑growing, ambitious organisation? Do you have the expertise to shape, guard, and elevate data management practices? Then join us at Projective Group as our new Data Management Specialist.

About Projective Group
Welcome to Projective Group, a leading Financial Services Consultancy firm where innovation and technology meet business. Our exclusive focus on the financial industry has allowed us to develop comprehensive solutions in multiple domains, including Data, Risk & Compliance, Pensions & Insurance, Payments, Transformation, and Talent. Within the Data Practice, we help our clients tackle their data related challenges. We bring a combination of Engineering (data management, governance, analytics, architecture) and Consulting (strategy, use-case definition, transformation) to support cloud, digital transformation, and AI initiatives across the financial sector.

The role
As a Data Management Specialist, you will take on a key role within our Data Practice — ensuring that data across client organisations is accurate, consistent, compliant, and accessible, enabling trustworthy reporting, analytics, and AI use cases. You will work closely with business and IT teams to design, document, improve, and safeguard data structures, data flows, data governance processes, and data quality frameworks. Beyond your functional and technical expertise, you will act as a trusted advisor, helping clients mature their data governance and adopt best‑in‑class data management practices. We do not  believe in heavy hierarchies - you do not formally “report” to the Data Practice Lead, but he is there to support you whenever you need. Your minimum skill set
Hard skills
  • Strong understanding of relational and dimensional modelling (conceptual, logical, physical).
  • Hands‑on experience with SQL and at least one major database (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, cloud DW).
  • Experience with ETL/ELT or data integration tools (Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory, dbt).
  • Familiarity with data catalog and governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Azure Purview, OneTrust).
  • Knowledge of data quality techniques: profiling, matching, deduplication, standardisation.
  • Understanding of data warehouse, BI, and analytics environments (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Basic understanding of privacy and security concepts (masking, encryption, RBAC, GDPR).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, data models, and API specs.

Soft skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with great attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills to bridge business and technical stakeholders.
  • Confident in stakeholder management; able to challenge, align, and advise.
  • Structured working style with strong documentation habits.
  • Proactive attitude, driving issues from identification through resolution.
  • Comfortable working cross‑functionally with business, IT, risk, and compliance.
  • High sense of ownership and integrity, especially with sensitive data.

Bonus
  • We will be even more impressed if you have:
  • University or HBO degree in a technical field.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and scripting (Python, R)
  • Experience with Data Stewardship or Data Frameworks (DCAM, DAMA)
  • Experience bringing AI applications or advanced analytics into production.
  • Experience teaching, presenting, or coaching.
  • An active network in the Dutch Financial Services & Insurance sector
Your profile
  • Design, maintain, and optimise data models, data flows, pipelines, and data flows.
  • Define and implement data quality rules, validation checks, monitoring, and remediation processes.
  • Maintain data catalogs and business glossaries, including ownership, classifications, and metadata.
  • Support and enforce data governance policies (e.g., data ownership, retention, access control, privacy).
  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into data structures, interfaces, and documentation.
  • Monitor data quality KPIs and create reporting for data owners and management.
  • Coordinate and support data migration and data cleansing activities during system changes.
