Job Description

Fortaegis is a fast-scaling, highly ambitious and cutting-edge semiconductor company. We are looking for a System Integration Architect to own the physical integration of all system components—hardware, FPGA, firmware, and userspace applications. Ensure deployability and reproducibility. This role takes the artifacts built by CI/CD and ensures they run on real hardware in a clean, repeatable way. We are looking for candidates with not only an exceptional skillset, but also an exceptional mindset, willing to go above and beyond to make our breakthrough
product even better.

Key contribution:

  • Assembles and maintains the physical test setups.
  • Flashes and deploys bitstreams, firmware, and software onto boards.
  • Ensures test environments are stable, identical, and ready for QA.
  • Experience with embedded systems bring-up.
  • Familiarity with JTAG, SWD, USB-to-UART, SPI/I2C debugging.
  • Knowledge of FPGA flashing processes.
  • Strong network engineering knowledge (network managers, routing tables, cabling).
  • Strong Linux system administration skills.
  • Basic understanding of Linux embedded systems (bootloader, kernel, device tree).
  • Ability to work closely with hardware and software engineers.

Nice to Have

  • Bonus: experience with serial consoles, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
  • Bonus: Ansible scripting.
  • Bonus: Knowledge of Labgrid is highly appreciated.
  • Strong documentation practices.
  • Linux Foundation Certifications (LFCA / LFCS).

  • Assemble and maintain the hardware test setups: boards, power supplies, cables, network, and sensors.
  • Flash bitstreams and firmware using JTAG, UART bootloaders, SD-card builders, etc.
  • Perform board bring-up when new hardware revisions arrive.
  • Document the flashing process and create standard deployment procedures.
  • Maintain bench equipment and lab automation tools.
  • Provide stable, reproducible environments for testing (e.g., reset rigs, programmable PSUs, fan controllers, automated switches).
  • Prepare golden images and system images for QA.

The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to participate in shaping the future of our visionary company, contributing to the development of ultra-secure and high-performance SoC designs. They will be part of a dynamic and innovative team, working in a collaborative and challenging environment at the forefront of the semiconductor technology.

Core Responsibilities

The role involves owning the physical integration of hardware, FPGA, firmware, and software components to ensure deployability and reproducibility. Key tasks include assembling test setups, flashing bitstreams, and maintaining stable environments for QA.

Requirements

Candidates need strong experience in embedded systems bring-up, Linux administration, and network engineering. Proficiency with debugging tools like JTAG and knowledge of FPGA flashing processes are essential.
