Role Profile
We are seeking dual-trade Qualified Millwrights capable of executing complex mechanical and electrical maintenance, rigging, installations, and precision fault-finding on high-speed packaging and manufacturing lines in Europe.
Mandatory Global Vetting Process (All Roles)
To meet strict European immigration, labor, and client compliance standards, all candidates moving forward from the database will be required to undergo:
Comprehensive Background Screening: Full criminal record checks, qualification verifications, and employment reference checks.
Clearance for International Work: Verification of eligibility to obtain passports and visas for the Netherlands or Belgium.
Professional Assessments: Completion of Psychometric, emotional intelligence (EQ), and technical aptitude testing.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Education: Relevant Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal or equivalent legal certification).
Experience: Minimum 3 years of post-trade experience in a fast-paced manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial environment.
Technical Focus: Strong dual-competency in both mechanical repairs (pumps, gearboxes, pneumatics) and electrical troubleshooting (fault-finding, control circuits).
Language Skills: Fluency in English (verbal and written) is mandatory. Afrikaans-speaking artisans will have an added benefit, as the linguistic similarities to Dutch/Flemish support smoother technical integration and teamwork on the factory floor.
Demographic Focus: Tailored for energetic, agile technical specialists; candidates under the age of 30 looking to expand their technical craft in Europe take preference.
Benefits
1. Professional Growth & Technological Advancement
Global Tech Hubs: The Netherlands and Belgium are at the forefront of automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0. Candidates will work with cutting-edge infrastructure and high-speed automated systems that are rarely deployed at scale in South Africa.
Investment in R&D: European engineering firms heavily invest in Research and Development, providing professionals with exposure to pioneering sustainable technologies and complex global projects.
2. Financial Incentives & Tax Advantages
Strong, Stable Currency: Earning in Euros (€) provides immediate financial stability, shielding professionals from the volatility of the South African Rand (ZAR).
The Dutch 30% Ruling: In the Netherlands, highly skilled migrants can qualify for a significant tax advantage where 30% of their salary is tax-free for up to five years. This drastically increases take-home pay and eases relocation costs.
Excellent Benefits Packages: Both countries mandate comprehensive employment benefits, including a minimum of 20 to 25 days of paid annual leave, holiday allowances (usually an extra 8% of annual salary paid in May), and robust pension schemes.
3. Lifestyle, Safety, and Infrastructure
Unmatched Public Safety: Low crime rates provide a lifestyle free from the security anxieties common in South Africa. Candidates and their families experience complete freedom of movement at any time of day.
World-Class Public Transport: The necessity of owning and maintaining a vehicle is completely eliminated. Both countries boast highly efficient, interconnected train, tram, and bus networks, alongside world-famous cycling infrastructure.
Travel Flexibility: Holding a European residence permit grants visa-free travel across the entire Schengen Zone, allowing for easy weekend travel across Europe.
4. Cultural Integration for South Africans
Linguistic Familiarity: For Afrikaans-speaking candidates, Dutch (and Flemish in Belgium) is remarkably easy to learn due to shared linguistic roots. It gives them an immediate cultural advantage, allowing them to integrate into local teams and understand technical site conversations much faster than other expats.
High English Proficiency: The Netherlands ranks as the top non-native English-speaking country in the world. While learning the local language is encouraged for long-term integration, professional business is widely conducted in fluent English.
5. Family & Social Security
Subsidized Education and Healthcare: Highly accessible, world-class public schooling and universally excellent healthcare systems ensure that a candidate's family is well looked after without the high private insurance and schooling costs found in South Africa.
Strong Labor Laws: European labor frameworks highly value work-life balance. Overtime is strictly regulated and usually compensated with extra time off, ensuring professionals have ample time to spend with their families.
Core Responsibilities
Execute complex mechanical and electrical maintenance, rigging, and installations on high-speed packaging and manufacturing lines. Perform precision fault-finding and technical repairs to ensure operational efficiency in European industrial environments.
Requirements
Requires a Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal or equivalent) and at least 3 years of post-trade experience in FMCG or industrial environments. Candidates must be fluent in English and possess dual-competency in mechanical and electrical systems.
