  • Expected commitment of at least 1.5 years and approximately 15 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate and test the payload bay of the Tumbleweed Rover prototype, ensuring mechanical and electrical compatibility with scientific instruments.

  • Perform environmental and functional tests on the payload bay to validate instrument performance under simulated mission conditions (e.g., vibration, temperature).

  • Oversee operational activities during testbed experiments, including setup, execution, and transportation.

  • Coordinate with external partners on instrumentation installation.

  • Write papers outlining the results of the numerous tests for publication.

  • Present findings at relevant conferences.

About Team Tumbleweed

Industry: Aviation and Aerospace Component Manufacturing

Company size: 51-200 employees

At Tumbleweed Mars, we want to make deep space accessible for everyone, including space agencies, research institutions, companies, and space enthusiasts worldwide. Our interdisciplinary and international team is building the next generation of Mars rovers - cheaper, faster, more reliable. Tumbleweed Mars bio-inspired mission architecture is based on a swarm of wind-driven, lightweight, and spheroid rovers that will enable large-scale exploration of the Red Planet. We aim to bring down the cost of Mars data by 100x, significantly reduce the risk of missions, and cover a surface area per mission 107 times higher than all past missions combined. With this pioneering approach, Tumbleweed Mars is paving the road to a new, Martian economy.
