De Kans

De Manager Processing & Packaging is verantwoordelijk voor de end‑to‑end aansturing en prestaties van alle post‑harvest en secundaire verwerkingsactiviteiten, waaronder oogsten, drogen, trimmen, curen, verpakken, labelen en gereedmaken voor verzending. Deze rol zorgt ervoor dat verwerkings- en verpakkingsactiviteiten veilig, compliant, efficiënt en consistent worden uitgevoerd, in lijn met wettelijke vereisten, kwaliteitsnormen en productieplannen. De Manager Processing & Packaging speelt een cruciale rol in het vertalen van operationele strategie naar stabiele dagelijkse uitvoering, terwijl schaalbare en herhaalbare processen voor toekomstige groei worden opgebouwd.

A. Operationeel Leiderschap & Uitvoering

  • Leiding geven aan en coördineren van dagelijkse post-harvest- en verpakkingsactiviteiten volgens productieplanning.
  • Zorgen voor een soepele materiaalstroom van teelt, via post‑harvest, naar afgewerkte verpakte producten.
  • Realiseren van productiedoelstellingen op het gebied van volume, kwaliteit, opbrengst, kosten en doorlooptijden.
  • Creëren van operationele stabiliteit door firefighting te verminderen en voorspelbaarheid te vergroten.

 

B. Kwaliteit, Veiligheid & Regelgevingsnaleving

  • Zorgen voor volledige naleving van interne SOP’s en relevante regelgevende kaders (bijv. GACP, GPP, GMP / EU‑GMP waar van toepassing).
  • Fungeren als eerstelijns verantwoordelijke voor kwaliteit en veiligheid binnen Processing & Packaging.
  • Zorgen voor correcte weging, etikettering, batchregistratie en volledige traceerbaarheid.
  • Nauw samenwerken met Quality Assurance bij audits, afwijkingen, CAPA’s en inspecties.
  • Te allen tijde audit‑klare documentatie, batchrecords en verwerkingslogboeken onderhouden.

 

C. Leiderschap & Teamontwikkeling

  • Leiding geven aan, coachen en ontwikkelen van supervisors, teamleads en operators.
  • Zorgen voor duidelijke rollen, verantwoordelijkheden en prestatieverwachtingen.
  • Ondersteunen van onboarding, training en competentieontwikkeling.
  • Een cultuur van eigenaarschap, veiligheidsbewustzijn, kwaliteitsgerichtheid en continue verbetering bevorderen.
  • Een zichtbare en toegankelijke leider op de werkvloer zijn.

 

D. Procesoptimalisatie & Continue Verbetering

  • Knelpunten, inefficiënties en productverliezen identificeren binnen verwerking en verpakking.
  • Continue verbeterinitiatieven aansturen gericht op opbrengst, kwaliteitsbehoud, arbeidsefficiëntie en afvalreductie.
  • Ondersteunen van standaardisatie en documentatie van processen.
  • Toepassen van gestructureerde verbetermethodologieën waar relevant (bijv. Lean, 5S).

 

E. Systemen, Apparatuur & Data

  • Zorgen voor correcte inzet, reiniging, onderhoud en kalibratie van verwerkings- en verpakkingsapparatuur.
  • Coördineren met Facilities & Maintenance voor preventief onderhoud.
  • Correct gebruik van ERP- en seed‑to‑sale‑systemen waarborgen voor inventariscontrole en traceerbaarheid.
  • KPI’s ontwikkelen en monitoren met betrekking tot opbrengst, doorvoer, kwaliteit, downtime en productiviteit van medewerkers.

 

Wat Je Meebrengt

Opleiding & Ervaring

  • Bachelor in Landbouw, Tuinbouw, Plantwetenschappen, Biotechnologie, Operations Management of een gerelateerd vakgebied (of gelijkwaardige ervaring).
  • 3–5+ jaar ervaring in post‑harvest, verwerking of verpakkingsactiviteiten binnen cannabis, voedingsmiddelen, farmacie of andere gereguleerde sectoren.
  • Aantoonbare leiderschapservaring in productie- of verwerkingsomgevingen.
  • Ervaring in SOP‑gestuurde omgevingen en regelgevende audits.

 

Kennis & Vaardigheden

  • Sterk begrip van post‑harvestprocessen en kwaliteitsbepalende factoren.
  • Bekendheid met normen zoals GACP, GPP, GMP / EU‑GMP.
  • Ervaring met ERP‑ en inventaris-/traceerbaarheidssystemen.
  • Vloeiend in Nederlands en Engels.

The Opportunity

The Manager Processing & Packaging is responsible for the end-to-end leadership and performance of all post-harvest and secondary processing activities, including harvesting, drying, trimming, curing, packaging, labeling, and preparation for shipment. The role ensures that processing and packaging operations are executed safely, compliantly, efficiently, and consistently, in line with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and production plans. The Manager Processing & Packaging plays a key role in translating operational strategy into stable daily execution, while building scalable, repeatable processes for future growth.

A. Operational Leadership & Execution 

  • Lead and coordinate daily post-harvest and packaging operations in line with production planning.
  • Ensure smooth flow of materials from cultivation through post-harvest into finished packaged products.
  • Deliver production targets in terms of volume, quality, yield, cost, and timelines.
  • Create operational stability by reducing firefighting and improving predictability.

 

B. Quality, Safety & Regulatory Compliance 

  • Ensure full compliance with internal SOPs and applicable regulatory frameworks (e.g. GACP, GPP, GMP / EU-GMP where applicable).
  • Act as first-line owner for quality and safety within processing and packaging.
  • Ensure accurate weighing, labeling, batch registration, and full product traceability.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance on audits, deviations, CAPAs, and inspections.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation, batch records, and processing logs at all times.

 

C. People Leadership & Team Development 

  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, team leads, and operators across processing and packaging.
  • Ensure clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
  • Support onboarding, training, and capability development.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, safety awareness, quality mindset, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a visible and approachable leader on the floor.

 

D. Process Optimization & Continues improvement 

  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and product loss across processing and packaging.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, quality preservation, labor efficiency, and waste reduction.
  • Support standardization and documentation of processes.
  • Implement structured improvement methodologies where appropriate (e.g.Lean, 5S).

 

E. Systems, Equipment & Data 

  • Ensure proper use, cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of processing and packaging equipment.
  • Coordinate with Facilities & Maintenance on preventive maintenance planning.
  • Ensure correct use of ERP and seed-to-sale systems for inventory control and traceability.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs related to yield, throughput, quality, downtime, and staff productivity. 


What You Bring

 

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Sciences, Biotechnology, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5+ years of experience in post-harvest, processing, or packaging operations within cannabis, food, pharma, or other regulated industries.
  • Proven leadership experience managing production or processing teams.
  • Experience working with SOP-driven environments and regulatory audits.

 

Knowledge & Skills 

  • Strong understanding of post-harvest processes and factors affecting product quality.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as GACP, GPP, GMP / EU-GMP.
  • Experience with ERP or inventory / traceability systems.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Biotechnology, or a related field with 3-5+ years of experience in regulated processing environments. Must be fluent in both Dutch and English and capable of obtaining a Certificate of Conduct (VOG).
